Director, Software Engineering
Job DescriptionThe Dir, Software Engineering manages engineering functions and team(s) within an organization.
This position leads the creation, improvement and operations of technical products and services.
The Dir, Software Engineering innovates and delivers software that improves upon key pillars of the corporate strategy.
This position excels in the rationalization and application of resources to deliver prioritized projects.
This position works with leadership to set direction and strategy.

Responsibilities:
oDirects a function or project that adds value to the business (i.

increased revenue or reduced costs).
Manages and defines success metrics and KPIs associated with the same.
oOversees organizational design and efficiency of functional areas and groups.
oManages to a budget for a project or functional area(s) when assignedoLeads the design of cross-functional features or is otherwise influential in the efforts of other leaders.
Advocates for efficient and effective solutions in any and all teams (not just their own).
oPerforms trade-off/rationalization analysis for delivery schedules and resource management across functional areas of responsibilityoLeads the design of new applications and technology or is otherwise influential in the design efforts of other leaders through collaboration and participation in the discovery, documentation and validation designs before and during software development.
oKeeps abreast of new technology patterns and trends.
Leads the evolution of SHC standards and technology (tools, conventions and design patterns)oManages end-to-end development of software and solutions for ecommerce applications and related technologies.
oEnsures successful delivery of solutions, meets specifications, and creates little to no operational support overhead (for this team or others).
oCollaborates with other managers and consistently and effectively communicates across the organization and up the leadership chain.
oLeads design and/or code reviews.
Drives initiatives for operational improvement and ensures team members do the same.
oEstablishes and monitors metrics of technical and business importance that are generated within assigned system and/or functional area.
oMentors Sr Mgr & Mgr, Software EngineeringoPerforms supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.
Job Requirements:
oDegree in Computer Science, a related technical or scientific field, or equivalent experienceo10
years experience in-industryo5
years managing individual contributors oAt least 2 years managing other managers.
oAnalysis, design, coding and implementation of large-scale applications.
oSolid knowledge of algorithms, data structures and complexity theory.
Solid knowledge on OO design.
oParticipation through completion of a complex software project (at least 1 year on project)oAbility to effectively write so requirements are clear and readily understood.
