Senior Systems Engineer / DevOps Engineer

Summary
The Senior DevOps Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of all information systems that support our hosted applications. The Senior DevOps Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues. They will engage with the development teams as part of a healthy ALM process - and with operations - to ensure a seamless transition of new capabilities to the production environment. They will do all of this with a focus on streamlining process and evolving the organization's culture.

Responsibilities
As a representative of the Global Hosting Services organization, you (Ops) will reach out to and work with a myriad of R&D teams (Dev) to ensure that the principles of proper Application Lifecycle Management and DevOps are aspired to and, on occasion, attained.
Relentlessly drive for improvement; design, standardize and deploy appropriate processes and methodologies.
Research, incubate and integrate new technologies into existing data center environments.
Help develop and execute on a backlog of needed cultural and technological change.
Monitor and analyze metrics in order to implement optimization strategies.
Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
Develop, implement and document the configuration standards policies and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring security of the Server environment.
Server and system performance tuning and monitoring.
Communicates with Developers, DBAs, the NOC and other IT departments and management related to issues affecting test, development and production systems.
Install, support, and configure new server software.
Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with server systems.
Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
Collaborates with the Network Operations team to ensure systems are monitored and issues are responded to in an appropriate manner and time frame.
Qualifications

Significant experience deploying, configuring and maintaining enterprise-scale application stacks in a production SOA environment.
Understanding of advanced networking concepts and design.
Black-belt customer service attitude and approach.
Strong grasp of automation tools, and the challenges that come with implementation of automation paradigms.
Technical proficiency in writing automation via scripts or standard third-party utilities such as Puppet,

Sufficient level of scripting and/or coding ability to serve infrastructure needs.
Ability to translate internal customer asks into working solutions via proper business context.
Sufficient level of comfort communicating and collaborating with numerous, diverse internal customer teams.
Self-motivating with a strong attention to detail.
Experience with and understanding of Agile and ITIL methodologies.
Strong understanding of ALM concepts such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
Strong project management skills are a plus.
Database configuration and management skills are a plus.
Experience with Linux and Java is a plus.
Experience with F5 is a plus.
Key Skills:
o DevOps is a hybrid blend of Build & Configuration / Systems Development / Systems Administration / Networking / Applications Engineering type of experience. Seek various combinations of experience with Application Life Cycle Management, Application Security, Programming, Scripting, or Networking.
o Windows Server 2008 Environment Expertise Required
o Experience using Middleware Tools (e.g., IIS, Apache Tools, Websphere, WebLogic, etc.)
o Experience with Software Distribution, Code Packaging, and Compression
o This position will utilize various technologies, such as: VMware, F5, Squid, MongoDB, CouchDB, RavenDB Solr, Linux, Java, GemFire, SQLFire, Nolio, SQL Server.
