Sears Holdings is seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our User Experience Team. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly hand-code clean HTML and CSS from Photoshop comps, wireframes, white board sketches, etch a sketches, or Crayon drawings! Your responsibilities will include making recommendations on front-end technologies, leveraging best practices, accurately estimating and tracking your time across multiple simultaneous projects, as well as working with the UE staff to develop and document methodologies, standards and best practices for the group.Have you seen Tron?If so, you'll understand the reference that We fight for the User here.If you haven't seen it, you really should.It's fun.We're talking the original from 1982.
You will work with a team of designers, UXAs and web developers that take on new development initiatives and platform enhancements across , and the associated portfolio of brand properties. You will be responsible for front-end development and client-side interactions using HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, RSS, JavaScript, and other related interactive technologies. We're building the next generation of applications here that have to be fast and flexible in order to satisfy our insatiable customers - we have a staff that rises to the challenge.
Currently, we are interested in candidates with 3
years of demonstrable experience and who have had a background of working on large-scale web initiatives or beautifully crafted, technically challenging experiences. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional programming skills, an understanding of user-centered design principles, and the ability turn business and user requirements into elegant user interfaces and compelling interactive experiences.
o Generate and maintain front-end code
o Work on front-end development activities, solutions, methods, and practices
o Develop new and effective interactive design solutions on time and in scope
o Collaborate with UE team to deliver on new business initiatives and platform enhancements
o Assist in developing methodologies, standards and best practices for the group
o Research and recommend appropriate interactive technologies
o Develop reusable code libraries
o Conduct code walkthroughs and quality assurance with development teams
o Develop web accessible and browser compatibility code
o Strong HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, XML programming skills
o Proficient in JavaScript Fireworks, Macromedia Dream Weaver
o Basic understanding of interaction design and user-centered design methods & practices
o Professional experience collaborating with design and development teams on large-scale projects
o Ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks across multiple projects, under tight deadlines.
o Enjoy working closely with others, respectful of other perspectives
o Willingness to switch gears quickly and be flexible to work on concurrent projects
o Ability to create clean, precise browser-compatible code
o 3
years experience with HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, RSS, JavaScript, AJAX and other related interactive technologies
o 1
years experience in e-commerce, retail merchandising/marketing, advertising, product development, e-commerce or related fields
o Experience with Website Localization Issues and Web Accessibility Standards a plus
o Degree in Marketing, Visual Communication, Graphic Arts, Computer Science or related area a plus
o Agency/Design Firm experience a big plus
